Last night it was nice to just stay home with the family for the evening with nothing much to do other than homeschool. We read Whatever Happened to Penny Candy, did our Spelling Power, ate dinner together around the kitchen island, corrected the other homework, and then went to bed. I went to bed early last night because I have been getting up so early for work and had a very late night the night before. One of the gifts we received this year was deck of “Rook” cards. When Kelly was babysitting at Greg and Alexa’s house, Christian and I started learning how to play two man Rook. It was a lot of fun. It will take several sessions, but I think that is going to be our next “listening to classical music” project. We will have to play a three person game because I do not think we can convince Lorena that she wants to play. It will be fun, though, and when we have Rook playing company, we will be all set for a foursome. I think Kelly and Christian will enjoy it.
Christian finished his first set of rocks with his rock polishing set. The came out awesome! I will take a picture of the key chain he made me and put it up here. We need to get some more good rocks and polishing sand so he can keep going.

Did anyone remember to thank the special someone who GOT us the Rook cards? (thank you Aunt Julia!)

Hey we are glad that someone else is learning to play Rook. We used to play ALL the time. we are playing some with Monte and Lori and they play much different than we played in the “Old” days but we are adjusting. We have a new game called Sequence that Jim are really enjoying. We will have to bring it over or you can come here to play it. We enjoyed having Linda for a couple days and Kent and Lyle are coming in a little while. They thought they had better get in before we have the bathroom completely destroyed 🙂 Liked the thought of taking away the filthy garments…behold I have caused your iniquity to from from you and given you a change of garments. doesn’t just take away the filthy but replaces it with clean….what Jesus does for us. And then it says that God will will remove the iniquity in that land in one day. Why? Because they had a change of garment. For me it doesn’t seem like it would just be a one time change either….what do you all think?
Christian
Oh, thank you.
Dad
What I think is that, so far, I have needed LOTS of changes of garment and that I will do my best to keep clean what has been given me. That being said, I do not have such a great history.

How was your meeting? Kent and Lyle came in today so they went with us. Dorene was there also!! Dorene shared about where it says that all the iniquity was ended in one day ….that being the day that Jesus died on the cross giving us all hope!
Dad
Ours was excellent! Truman talked about the connection between this chapter, Haggai, Ezra, and Nehemiah and that the Joshua talked about here was the high priest who came out of the seventy years of captivity. It is going to be a great meeting for us. It is especially nice to have Elinore there.

This is one of your old friends from Corvallis days in the ’70’s! I’ve been enjoying your blog and have to “fess up” to being a “lurker”! It’s been like getting re-acquainted, and it’s fun to learn about your family, too. Even to read JoAnn’s comments now and then (hi JoAnn) and to hear about our good friend Kent! Think I should start reading your blog BEFORE Wed. night mtgs. now. 🙂 Keep up the good work.
Dad
Hello Lois! Thanks for reading our blog and even more thanks for leaving a comment. We have been connecting up with a number of people from the distant past–I think most of the people that read this thing actually knew me when I had hair!

Fun is reading the blog and then all the comments!
love how the comments to the rook game became spiritual comments…always did say rook was the professing pinochle! I too found it useful to realize who this Joshua was…amazing how you can have a Bible your whole life and continually keep learning things from it…one of those miracles!
Dad
Thanks for the comments! I think that is quite an astute observation about Rook being the professing pinochle. The hilarious thing about you writing that is that we had a get-together the other night with some of the friends and the kids wanted to take their Rook deck. I told them it would not be necessary to take the deck (to Mark and Nancy R’s house–Chico State grads), because I KNEW they would already have a deck.
Susie (Crawford) Sprague
Oh yeah!! Mark and Nancy would definitely have Rook… 🙂 So did you get to play rook with them??
Sounds like you have a fun group there in Albany..
bunch of youth! That is cool!!
Dad
Well, we never have, but we SHOULD!
