Kelly, Christian, and I performed our first chemistry “experiment” last night. I put the experiment in quotes, because it really was not much of an experiment. The task was just to familiarize ourselves with the idea that all things are made of atoms and everything can be described in terms of its basic constituient atoms. It went OK. Actually, the text part of this chapter (and I think the next one, too) was much better than the experiment. The experiments start getting good when we get to the third chapter. I really think we will all learn a lot and have a great time doing it.

Today is a swimming lesson day and a gospel meeting night so we really will not have time to do much between when I get home and when we go to meeting. I only have time for correction of the day’s work, perparation of tomorrow’s lesson plan, and dinner. We have been going pretty fast so we can finish all our material in time to go to Mexico at the end of May, so now that we are not going to be able to leave until mid-June, our days will be much less hectic. Kelly had gotten a little behind on her history work, but should be completely caught up by the end of the week.

The piano tuner came yesterday. He got the piano all tuned up and said it was a fine piano, about 20 years old. He is going to come again in about six months to make some adjustments, but then after that he says we should only need it once per year. It is hard for someone as unmusical as me to judge how well the piano is playing, but it surely seems to sound better.
