My pickup is totaled

Day 527 of 1000

Well, I got tired of waiting for the call from the auto body place and the insurance agent.  The pickup is totaled so I have to buy a new (to me) car.  I am thinking I will get the minimum possible to get to work and back.  It is always nice to have a new vehicle, but it never is much fun going through the process of buying one.  I wish I were better at this.  I have read about all kinds of techniques for “defeating” the sales guys and have even tried a few, but in the end, they all seem to be pretty obnoxious.  Maybe I will wait until I get back from Arizona.

I’ve read that leasing a new vehicle has some very positive sides to it and somewhat (??) on par with buying re cost etc. Could that actually be true? I found a very interesting multi-take on the pros and cons at http://www.leaseguide.com/lease04.htm

Good luck in the search, Ken!

I have a friend who is talking to me about this. My thinking right now, because we are not sure where we will be (and we are saving up for a trip to South America!), is to get a clunker to survive for a couple of years while we finish college. Thanks for the link!

Craig’s list has been my go to for used vehicles for a while. Just bought one from a nice couple in Chapel Hill (yes, there are lots of nice people in Chapel Hill)

Thanks Lester. Christian is a big fan of Craig’s list and is all over that. I think we are going to pull the trigger this weekend.
