Last day before the holiday break

We have both Christmas Eve and Christmas day off this year so this is my last day of work before a four day weekend.  I am going to work between Christmas and the New Year holiday this year.  I very much enjoy working between the two holidays, not only because it is quiet and I can get a lot done, but because the people who are there with me always seem to be more relaxed and open than usual.  The kids and I have decided to try to do workouts every day the YMCA is open during the break.  I have been going like crazy for about two months now which means (of course) the first thing to fall by the wayside was my workouts.  It is painful to get started again after such a long break, but it will be nice to go into the New Year with at least the start of a little bit of conditioning under my belt.  What with the great food we have planned, I am just hoping to break even weight-wise.  The only way I will be able to do that is to get some exercise.

  1. Kelly, Congratulations on your driving instruction and now being able to get your permit. Grandpa is in a “popcorn ball making mode”. He just took some down to the “boys” he has coffee with. We took a grocery sack to Jean’s house last night. Also a large ham he purchased for them for a Xmas celebration party at her house today. The ham was 99cents/lb at Safeways, quite a bargain. Wish you were all here with us to go to the party. Much love, Grandma C

I have been walking faithfully and have started a light weight routine….I know about exercise breaks….I took about a 15 year one….but I’m done with that! Then I read about Grandpa C’s pspcorn balls….they sound famous….how does he make them?

Hello Ruthie. We hope you had a great Christmas! We are going to try to make the famous popcorn balls for a New Years get together we will attend in Charlotte. We are getting better at them, but still do not have Grandpa’s touch. We will put up the (very simple) recipe later.

P.S. Back to the gym for day two today!

Had a great time with my family. My mother in law came with her special friend, as well as a friend of Emma’s who is having a tough time in her life. We had yummy appetizers followed by a prime rib, spiral ham, garlic mashed potatoes, candied yams, baked brussel sprouts and a huge salad. Simple, but filling.

    Did my workout today….feeling great!
