Kelly, the baking machine

Last night Kelly baked again. This time, she made cookies with apricot and raspberry fillings (not together–the different fillings were in different cookies). She has promised me that she is going to make me a batch of moist and chewy oatmeal, raisin cookies. I can hardly wait. She has been baking bread just about every other day, too. It is really handy to use the bread machine, but I am trying to convince her to take the bread out of the bread machine before the last step so it can rise for the last time and be cooked in a regular bread pan. That is about as good as it gets. Kelly and Lorena are plotting to try some whole grain/multi-grain bread next. That sounds super, too. The problem is that it is WAY fattening.

Things are still crazy at work, but last night Christian and I were able to spend about an hour together working on math. It was great. I am going to make a priority of doing that every night with both Kelly and Christian. We need to keep reading on our books together, too. It just makes life in the family better when our priorities are for preferring each other!

Mom cheats when she makes cookies. She buy the cookie dough already shaped and everything. They taste good though, and that’s what counts!

I with you on that one, Hunter. With cookies taste is EVERYTHING!

  3. We actually cheated the other day! We made chocolate chip cookies from the bag, and boy did they taste good! I like the dough more than the cookies though. 🙂

Mom and is the same way. she has an after-pregnancy sweet tooth,so if she just eats the dough she doesn’t have to wait for the cookies to bake.

If you make the whole grain or multigrain bread, there are a couple of hints, especially if
you want to use the breadmaker. Use 2/3 whole wheat flour to 1/3 of white flour.
Or buy some gluten flour and add a teaspoon of the gluten flour (I think this is close,
you might want to google the measurements)

This will make it rise better. Sometimes, whole grain bread can be a bit heavy….
If your breadmaker doesn’t have a whole wheat setting, to allow for extra rising, you can
sometimes get a brick like loaf.

Man If they had, HAD pre-made cookie dough when I was a kid my MOM might have ACTUALLY BAKED!! Fast and easy is her style of cooking and she Does NOT Bake. Oh well I learned to cook out of Self Defense. Poor Mom if she reads this I’m in trouble. I’ll just say what she does make she makes well!!!

Man we got tips from some one who has obviously done this a LOT (Thanks, Ann) and tips from someone who hasn’t done it at ALL (Thanks, Trisha)! What a broad spectrum of readers have we!
