Grandpa Milo starts the cooking lessons – decorating a cake

All of the roses and decoration on this cake we had for dinner were done by the kids after Grandpa Milo taught them how to do it.  Tonight it will be sushi!!!

“Milo Smilo” was a renaissance man before the world knew what one was! He is still as much a hero to me as I’m sure he is to his grandchildren!!!! Wish I was there to share in the food and fun. Love to you all!

The cake is beautiful. How does he do that rope effect on the edging? That is very pretty.

Ken – how long did it take for you to get from RDU to Salsa Fresh this time???

Hey, Ken, we recognize Esther and Lester Stepp in your birthday party pic…saw them at a Gospel meeting in Asheville this last year…Don knows them well…and sends his greeting their way….I believe Esther’s sister lives in Hendersonville where Heather’s family is. Take care…Marilyn and Don P.S. Not being a “blogger” I’m assuming you see these messages without having to scan all your old entries…?

I went directly there this time! It just seemed like it took a long time because of Grandpa Milo’s corny jokes!

Glad you didn’t need to use the GPS this time!

But ask Grandpa M how he did the twisty thing on the top edge of the cake. I can only manage the basic
shell kind of thing. I want directions! Iris does have a birthday coming up. (Probably she will
get a bunny or a kitty cat though, not a beautiful rose covered cake!!)

Hey! When Siri comes next time, we will give her a lesson. That would be a blast.

  14. It’s really easy! All you do is make a sort of sideways stretched out ‘S’ shape, and then make another sideways stretched out ‘S’ shape right at the part where the ‘S’ curves, so it looks like it’s coming right from under the ‘S’. Keep doing that around the cake. It’s kinda hard to explain in words though. 🙂

Thanks Kelly. I’ll give it a try. It looks cool.

  16. Oh, the shame of it all!! And all I ever wanted to be known as a great ball player or hunter!! Oh well!! Granpa Milo

  17. HAPPY GLAD

SUCH TALENT!! We can almost ‘smell’ the Roses……..And I am sure the cake was delicious. Glad that Milo had the opportunity to show the South that the wild indians of the West are somewhat ‘refined’!! The job you kids did is better than most of the professionals in the business. You could open your own business and really make a ‘killing’! Keep it up.
