Enough drawing for awhile, time to think about homeschool again

Over the last couple of days, we did some hard core drawing, so we are a little burnt out on that.  We have a new special drawing  project on which we are going to work (thanks to Trisha) that might take us awhile so please stay tuned.  In the meantime, I am really starting to feel the pinch on getting ready for next years homeschool.  The kids are supposed to start in on their math on Monday next, but I have done nothing yet to get ready.  In addition, we have to put the finishing touches on the research reports and get them published.  i am going to try to get the first week of school lined up this weekend so that I do not have it hanging over my head.  All but a few items that are already on the way are on the homeschool bookshelf.  We have a great new writing program for Kelly coming called Analogies and a book on logic called Fallacy Detective that I want to do with both Kelly and Christian.

Okay Ken, your stress about homeschool matters is contagious! I’ve just spent an hour researching more sources, books, etc. All with your 3 part homeschool posts to guide me. I really like the look of the Wordly wise materials, and have added that Analogies book for myself, oh wait I mean the kids! I’ve decided not to go with Easy Grammar as, after all English is my forte, I’ve been using and enjoying other materials. You commented about Addie missing the eastern hemisphere study, but I’m sure that because she inhales every book within reach, she will get all the informaiton when Konrad studies it next year! Also you asked about our favorite science source, and that would have to be http://www.hometrainingtools.com/. Eric got really excited when he was surfing their site! He said some of the fisherteknic (sic) stuff, they used to demonstrate stuff for his engineering classes in college. I’m not sure exactly what I’m going to do with the kids from them, but will most likely include some dissection wit whatever else we do. They thought I was mom of the year last year when I dissected a pregnant mouse for them. (We didn’t get that from a supplier, but from our attic…) Anyway if you don’t have a good microscope yet, you definatly need to check out their microscopes. We’re also going to do Singapore Math. By the way, I think the homeschool blog is an excellent idea, and would love to be a contributor.

I get inspired a lot by other homeschools so it is great to get some synergies going. I will talk the other homeschool folks and see if they want to contribute, too. I think we could have an excellent blog!
