Lorena and the kids went to their play yesterday at Linn-Benton Community College and they said it was great. They all reported that the costumes, set, and acting were all just excellent. A bunch of people from meeting went a long, then afterwards went to Wendy’s to eat lunch. After that, Lorena and the kids drove up to Sherwood for Lorena’s doctor appointment. It is a long way to drive, but she really likes her doctor a lot. The appointment was at 3:00 PM and it started a little late so they did not get back home to Albany until well after 5:00 PM.
The thing that is really amazing is that the kids got most of their homeschool work completed. The things they did not finish were things that required a computer or some other reason to be at home. We completed a full day of homeschool yesterday so I was very proud of the kids. We are almost through two thirds of the year now and I am feeling very good about their progress.
In handwriting, both of the kids have improved dramatically. In math, they will both have completed a year and a half of work in one year to catch up to high performance at their grade level according to the Singapore Math system. The Easy Grammar program is giving them way more grammar than I remember getting even in high school. Sonlight’s history and literature program is just marvelous. Their science is quite good although I plan to be supplementing it with some more rigorous experimental based work from RealScience-4-Kids. In spelling, Christian tested at the eighth grade level and Kelly test at the tenth grade level in the Spelling Power system. We are not doing as much memorization as in past years, but by the end of the year, each of them should have a chapter in Psalms memorized both in English and Spanish.
