Christian surprised us and did well enough on the COMPASS math placement test, he will join Kelly in Calculus I (Differential Calculus) this year. That should make life very interesting for him. He will take Biology I with Lorena and Calculus I with Kelly. Right now, he is at Wake Christian Academy taking the sit-down portion of the driver education class required of all young drivers here in North Carolina.

That’s great! Christian, congratulations. 🙂

Just remember that Christian is young and that he has time. Emma had taken the TT Precalculus and Calculus was still difficult. She was so happy when the class was done. She did say that her teacher made learning Calc fun. She took a total of 17 units last semester, 10 of which were two 5 unit classes. I am not sure what differential calculus is, but she took the hardest track – Calculus 400 for enginners and science majors. It was not a walk in the park. Many of the kids had already taken Calc in highschool. They still had to work very hard to pass the class. Christian may have an advantage because you are a math guy. I cannot do that high of math -can’t remember much past Alg 2 and geometry- so Emma spent alot of time in the math lab and in study groups. It was a good experience and she met many in her class who are very serious about school. Best of luck!

Where in the world are the Chapmans? No posts for 23 days….I am having withdrawls! 🙂
Dad
Hey Ruthie, we are still alive (and on vacation with Grandpa and Grandma in Oregon). We are gathering up steam to take college (and blogging) by storm when the school year starts on August 23. Thanks for checking in!

Have a nice vacation, and respite! We are getting a break from the heat in California today and I am purging my garage. The kids are busy with Vacation Bible School all week.
Dad
Thanks Ruthie! We will keep you posted. I hope Lorena does not see that purging the garage thing when we are all home–it might give her some ideas.
