Lunch for Kelly’s birthday with Grandpa Milo and Grandma Sarah

We had a wonderful lunch at Baja Fresh on Saturday afternoon with Grandpa Milo and Grandma Sarah to celebrate Kelly’s birthday.  Kelly gave Grandma Sarah the dish towel she had beautifully embroidered of a branch with an apple and some leaves on it.  She is going to make a similar one for Grandma Conchita.  Christian is working on an apron embroidery of a cat with a chef’s hat that says Chef.  It is coming along nicely.  I think that embroidery is going to be our “manualidad” of choice during book reading time after we finish the puzzle we are on.  Trisha, you did us a great service in showing us how to embroider!

Of course, after lunch, we all traipsed down to the Dollar Tree to buy a pile of junk that everyone just had to have.  Amongst that junk was an aluminum tray that Lorena used later in the evening to cook shrimp and vegetables for rice bowls.  Kelly got a very cool pink cap and a wallet.  Christian got a piece of bamboo to use for a flute and I talked him into some glue sticks he really did not need.  All in all, though, it was a pretty good haul.

The next thing we have on the agenda with Grandpa Milo and Grandma Sarah is cooking lessons.  The kids really want to learn how to make sushi and fruit plates.  Grandpa Milo is just the person to teach them.  We hope they learn how to do some of those fancy fruit sculptures like the apple swan.  We’ll see.

I tried but it wasn’t as good as grandpa’s!

  2. Dad! We have a birds nest up on top of an overhanging block on one of our pillars! Maybe we can install our surveillance camera up there to see what happens inside!

That would be VERY cool. Let’s see if we can do it. We will have to find all the stuff.
