It is hard for the kids to concentrate on homeschool when there is so much stuff going on. There is the day camping trip at Lake Texhoma with all the friends, Kelly’s birthday party at Craig and Rene Parish’s house, Special Meeting in Lewisville, our return to Oregon, Grandpa Lauro and Grandma Conchita’s last visit from Mexico, etc., etc. Yesterday was a day of pretty bad procrastination and, really, the kids are not going to be able to do any more homeschool this week with the camping trip coming up. It is all OK though. We are finishing up on a lot of the material. There will be plenty of time to finish up the rest when we get back to Oregon.
After next week, we will have nine weeks of school left to complete. The government schools in Albany will be letting out after a half a day on June 15th so we should be able to match up to that fairly easily. If we take the first week of April to get back to Oregon, we will have the following schedule to finish up:
- April 10-14
- April 17-21
- April 24-28
- May 1-5
- May 8-12
- May 15-19
- May 22-26
- May 29-June 2
- June 5-9
- June 12-16 Special math work week
Kelly
Sorry about our work habits dad. We set up your room as desks so that we could work harder.
Kelly
Hi Dad! We each get a computer to use ONLY for a notepad, a dictionary, a calculator and in Christian’s case, World Book. We are trying to work hard. We’re sorry.
We love you
Kelly
Dad
It’s OK Kelly. We are going to get it all done. We might have to spend a little extra time on the math, but we like to do that together and you are really very good at it. It will be great to have a few days break at the lake with all your friends. We will do a few things on the trip home like get way ahead on our reading aloud and a good session of math each day for the both of you. We love the reading so that will be lots of fun. As for the math, it will be a chance to spend some special time on it. After next year, we will back off quite a bit as you will be getting into more difficult material. Really, you are doing great right now.
On a second topic, if that desk thing works out, we will probably get you both your own table like the IKEA ones we have in the apartment living room. We might leave them downstairs during the week and take them down for the weekend when company comes. It is pretty nice to have your own work area where you can organize stuff.
Kelly
Remember those little tables back in Albany? Those work too.

Dad
Oh, yes! I almost forgot about them. The thing I am thinking now, though, is that it would be nice to have something bigger that is there permanently. I am thinking it would be very cool to have some kind of a desk that has drawers and a file cabinet. We could put them in the middle of the bonus room facing each other. It might even be kind of cool to get you one of those fancy chairs. Also, do you not think that it would be great to have a couple of chairs for reading. I think you used them a lot before.
Kelly
That would be awesome Dad, but save it for later! You have a house to remodel!
