With only four weeks until the end of the school year and the sun shining, we spent one of our laziest weekends ever at the house. Mostly, the kids just played with the neighbor kids and Micah, the grandson of our neighbor, Vicky across the street. Micah is a great kid who gets along with Christian better than just about anyone. He stayed with us while Vicky and her two daughters went off to a Mothers Day dinner at Vicky’s church. Lorena and I relaxed. The cats joined us.

The twin cat sisters showing their stong spring work ethic

This will change rapidly as Lorena gets to the end of her semester and the spring cleanup gets into full swing. We have decided not to go to Mexico until the very end of June or the beginning of July. It will be extremely hot in Monterrey at that time, but the timing will work out way better. Maybe next year we can work it out to be there during the allergy season. Not only would we miss the allergies, but also the weather would be much more temperate.

I am starting to get all our trip stuff lined up. Of course we are planning to go to Monterrey to visit Grandpa Lauro and Grandma Conchita in late June or early July. Then, the first week in December, we will go to Puerto Vallarta with most of Lorena’s brothers and their families, Grandpa Lauro, Grandma Conchita, Grandpa Milo, Grandma Sarah, Uncle Doug, and Aunt Sheila. Finally, we are getting the timeshares all lined up for next year’s trip to Mt. Bachelor with the Rizos. Al and Michele are going to try to take their family to Brazil if they can afford it, so the lineup might be a little different from normal. At any rate, I am going to get enough rooms for about twenty people so that Lauro, Dayana, Dayanita, Dave and Glad, Ron and Donna, Grandpa Milo, Grandma Sarah, Uncle Doug, Aunt Sheila, and anyone else who might have a day or two can make it over.

In addition to all that, we are planning to have Lauro and Conchita come up here three weeks. I am only going to stay in Monterrey for a week, but I am going to leave Lorena, Kelly, and Christian there for an additional two weeks. When they all come home, Lauro and Conchita will fly with them. Lauro and Conchita will then stay for Saginaw convention and a good long visit. We are really looking forward to their stay. Kelly and Christian are going to work on some piano pieces they can play along with Grandpa Lauro on his violin.

I have been thinking a lot lately about what I could do for a living if Quality Corners continues to grow and do well. The business is doing very well right now. I need to remember that it could all disappear tomorrow — God will give us what we need to give us the best chance to make the right choices and be what he wants us to be. At the same time, the business could easily double. I am leaning more and more toward finding something other to do than work for Quality Corners. I am not so well suited for that kind of work. I have been thinking about writing a book on how to do something I love to do or writing a piece of software to do something interesting along with a book on how to use the software. I am just not sure yet how this will all pan out. God will show me in His own time.
