I just signed up Lorena, Kelly, and Christian for the 10th Annual Krispy Kreme Challenge. It is a five mile fun run to raise money for charity and let the college kids get silly for a little while on what is usually a cold winter day. I think this will be the kids’ third or fourth time. Lorena wanted to get in on the fun. The kids will be moved out to the West coast by the time the next one rolls around. Lorena will be out there, too, if the house sells. This is one of those events that makes us love Raleigh and NCSU.
which charity? Or running just because it’s for ‘charity?’
The proceeds all go the the North Carolina Children’s Hospital. Last year the race raised $184,000 dollars. During the nine years of the event over a half million dollars have been raised. Actually, though, I think most people just run the race for fun.
I never understand how folk can raise money while they are running. Do they run with wee tins that folk can put money into?
Actually, the money is from the entry fees which with 8100 runners at around $30 each is around a quarter million dollars and donations from sponsors.
