Weight a minute

I have had so many false starts on my weight loss battle, that I almost hate to bring this up, but I am down 13 pounds.  I have 29 pounds to go.  Feel free to hold my feet to the fire.

Sssssssssssssssssssssss!!! All the best, Ken! I should follow your example. How are you doing it? Any pointers for another baby boomer?

I think we are at that awkward age now where we gain a pound of weight for every 8 oz. of food we eat. I just cut out bread, processed food, candy, and desserts–what I call mental health food. It makes my life sadder, but I have to do something!

Yes, mental health food! So, I guess it’s better to die at (or of? ha) a healthy weight tho crazy… One of our friends here says when she’s feeling sort of down, she tells her husband, “Either make me an appmt with a psychiatrist, or bring me home some chocolate.” The latter works great, she says. I believe it! 🙂

Here in Chile, the main meal of the day is at lunch time. And guess what? They serve your plate and bring it to you! Piled high. Y por si fuera poco, for b’fast and supper, it’s usually only something minimal (Read: continental bfast, evening tea) which here means that the main crux of what’s on the table is…bread. Sometime there’s not much more, besides some tea, coffee or ‘Yerba mate’…maybe a little cheese. Not that they can’t do more; it’s just that they don’t want any more. “Not complaining just explaining”. A fellow has to find some medium ground somewhere..

That is AWESOME the way they eat in Chile. I think it would be very good for me to get accustomed to a system like that. It probably means the lighter meals are more social events, too, because everyone is not so busy stuffing their mugs. I think it would take some transition, but I bet I could learn to love it. I have heard about Yerba mate for years now, but I have never tried it. Dyin’ to do that, too.
