In my line of work, I spend tax money like a drunken sailor (aptly punned) every day. You have to ask yourself the question, "Is what I'm doing really helping?" Politicians will tax and politicians will spend ... bottom line: was it a good invesment of the people's treasure in the end (i.e. are we safer/better off for having spent it?) If the answer is yes or even maybe, then it's a good thing. Our government has a few mechanisms for procurement that are really quite unique and beneficial to innovation and entrepreneurship.
